I created The Overload Method to take you from wherever you are RIGHT NOW to progressively stronger, one small step at a time. No intimidation. No guessing. No jumping into weights your body is not ready for. Just the exact progression I wish someone had handed me.

You did everything "right." So why are so many midlife women getting bone loss?
Here's what we were not told us about our bones, and the simple plan to protect them starting now, before anything ever goes wrong.
The strength conversation nobody had with us.
having toned arms or liking how your butt looks in jeans.
And listen, I am all for both of those things too. :)
But I care way more about whether you can carry your own suitcase, get yourself up off the floor, lift the groceries, hike, travel, play with your grandkids, catch yourself if you trip and keep saying YES to the things you want to do.
I do not want us becoming more careful and more limited every year just because somebody told us that's what aging looks like.
Getting stronger is one of the most powerful things we can do about that.
And you do NOT have to already be strong to begin.
I wanted to take this thing called “Progressive Overload,” which sounds way more complicated and intimidating than it actually is, and make it SO simple that you know exactly what to do.
Because progressive overload really means this:
Maybe you add a little weight.
Maybe you do one more rep.
Maybe you add one set.
Maybe you move from the easier version of an exercise to the next version.
Not ALL of those things at once. And definitely not because somebody on Instagram told you that you “should” be lifting a certain amount by now.

One little progression at a time. Your body adapts. You get stronger. Then we give it another little reason to adapt again.
STRONG BONES HELP
If that means bodyweight, GREAT. We start there.
If that means doing a push-up against a wall instead of getting down on the floor, that is exactly where I want you.
You do not get bonus points for starting harder than you're ready for.
We learn the movement first. THEN we add the challenge.
Once the movement feels strong and controlled, we progress.
A little more weight OR another rep OR another set OR the next version.
One thing.
Then we give your body time to get good at that before asking for more.
For most women starting this program, I want three strength days a week with recovery in between.
Not seven days.
Not “go until you can't move.”
You are not trying to win a workout.
You are trying to build a strong body you get to live in for a very long time.
You are not going to be starving or restricting or counting every calorie
You are not cutting out your favorite foods or whole food groups
You are not killing yourself at the gym
And you are not chasing another quick fix that fizzles out in two weeks
I have to talk about this because I think our generation got totally ripped off here. :)

We covered it. We tied sweatshirts around our waist. Nobody was telling us, “Hey, you should actually BUILD this muscle.”
Well… turns out our glutes are kind of a big deal.
They help support our hips, knees, back, balance and so much of how we move through everyday life. When they're weak, other parts of our body start trying to pick up the slack.
So YES, you are going to see a lot of glutes in this program.
And yes, your butt may look better too. We are not mad about that. :)
But we're training it because I want you strong, stable and capable.

No guessing. I'll show you what good progression actually looks and feels like, and how to know when you should stay where you are versus move up.

You'll have lower body, upper body and core exercises that I've specifically chosen for this program, with easier starting points and progressions so you can work out at home OR at a gym.

This is NOT one of those programs where I give you 40 exercises and then you're staring at them thinking, “Great… now what?”
I'll show you exactly how to choose from the vault and put together a balanced workout.
And if you don't want to choose anything at first, I've got you. I give you a sample week you can just follow.

This is where you actually SEE progressive overload happen.
Week 1: Learn it.
Week 2: Add a little.
Week 3: Add a set.
Week 4: Step it up.
Then you start again a little stronger than you were before. Simple.

I gave these their own section because I believe they matter THAT much: the plank, the hang and eventually working toward a chin-up or pull-up.
Before you say, “Natalie, there is NO way I'm doing a pull-up,” I KNOW. :) You are not starting there.
I'll show you the progression. You may start by hanging for five seconds with your feet helping you. That counts. We build from there.

I'll also teach you the things I wish more women were taught BEFORE somebody handed them weights:
how to warm up, how long to rest, how to choose a weight and how to tell the difference between your muscles working hard and your body telling you NO.
Because getting stronger should not mean beating yourself up.

I built this for the woman who knows she needs to get stronger but keeps thinking, “Okay… where do I even START?”
Maybe you haven't worked out consistently in years.
Maybe you walk all the time, but weights are new to you.
Maybe you've done my bodyweight workouts and you're ready to take that next step.
Maybe you've tried lifting before, but you never really knew how much to use or when you were supposed to increase it.
Or maybe you're just nervous about getting hurt.
If any of that sounds familiar, YES. This is for you.
And I want to say this part clearly too:
If you already lift weights consistently, understand progressive overload and are comfortable programming your own workouts, you probably do not need this program.
This is intentionally built for a beginner or someone starting again.
And there is NOTHING wrong with starting at the beginning. We all start somewhere.
For YEARS, I was known for bodyweight training.
And I still LOVE bodyweight training. I built my name around it. It removes so many excuses because you can literally start anywhere. But as I've gotten older and learned more about what our bodies need in midlife, my own training has changed too.
At some point, bodyweight alone stopped being enough for ME to keep getting stronger. I needed to add load. And I had to learn how to do that while also respecting everything my body had been through.
I've lived with degenerative disc disease for more than two decades. I ruptured my L5-S1 disc. I've had a torn bicep repaired, a broken foot that needed surgery and, in 2025, I finally had an L5-S1 disc replacement.
So believe me when I tell you I know what it feels like to have to start over. There were times I couldn't even bend over the sink to brush my teeth without bracing myself.

I'm not standing over here yelling at you to “GO HEAVIER!”
I'm standing next to you saying, “Okay, this is where we start. Get really good here. Then we're going to take the next step.”
I built the program I needed. And now I want you to have it too.
Nope. You can do the entire program at home OR at a gym. At home, a sturdy chair or bench, some bands and a few dumbbells are plenty to start.
You don't begin by choosing some magic number. We begin with the movement.
Can you do your reps with good, controlled form? Do the last couple feel challenging without your form falling apart? GREAT.
When that starts feeling easier, we progress. Form first. Always.
The basic program is three full-body strength workouts a week with recovery days between them. That's enough.
You don't need to turn your whole life upside down to get stronger.
Then start there.
Wall push-ups. A chair squat. Bodyweight. Light dumbbells.
Please do not wait until you're "in better shape" to start getting in better shape. :)
The starting point exists for a reason.
NO. Please don't. :)
It is a menu.
I'll give you a simple recipe and you choose a few exercises from each section. That's the whole point. I want you to have options without being overwhelmed.
I built this program to progress gradually, and protecting the back is very personal to me because of my own history.
But this is still a general fitness program, not treatment for an injury or individualized medical advice.
If you have current pain, numbness, tingling, a recent injury or surgery, or another condition that could affect exercise, please talk with your healthcare provider first and get cleared.
They work beautifully together, but they're different.
The Overload Method teaches you how to progressively strength train.
The Thriving Bones Method covers the bigger bone-health picture including impact, testing, nutrition, supplementation, balance and footwear.
Strength is one important piece of the bone conversation. Thriving Bones puts the rest around it.
Someday is one of those words that keeps moving on us.
You do not need to walk into a gym tomorrow and grab the heaviest dumbbells. You don't need to suddenly become somebody who LOVES lifting weights. And you definitely don't need to prove anything.
Because that strong woman you're picturing at 60, 70, 80 and beyond?
